History of Our Club

The H-Team 4-H Club was established in 1986 by Lisa Saffran. Lisa 'grew-up' in 4-H and wanted a club for her children. Now her Grandchildren are club members! Other members in the club are former 4-H members who are now parents of current 4-H members!

Cost of Club?

The club does not require any costly uniforms or materials. The only cost is $2 per member at the monthly business meetings. The money is used for club sponsored activites such as: Bowling Parties, Club Lunches, and other Club Expenses. For those that cannot pay, please contact the club leader. We may be able to waive your dues until you are able to pay. Your attendence is more important than your money!

Our Emphasis

4-H Clubs are traditionally known as 'Farm Clubs'. It is true that many 4-H Clubs emphasize working with animals, but the H-Team 4-H Club is a Crafts based club. In the H-Team you can learn many things:

-Arts and Crafts
-Woodworking
-Ceramics
-Photography
-Horticulture (Plant Identification)
-Consumer Awareness (Food and Product Identification)
-Bicycle Safety (Trail Rides)
-Public Speaking
-Demonstration Speaches

The SKILLS learned in our club are focused for the locality of our club. Learning crafts teaches hand-eye coordination. Learning about the plants around us, help us to know how to help our environment with proper plantings and plant longevity. Consumer Awareness, allows us to know what fruits and vegetables are healthy, how to make a good purchase, and how to be a smart consumer. Public Speaking is vitally important in today's society. Being able to clearly articulate, in an organized fashion, an idea and convice people to accept your idea is imporatant in business success! Starting at an early age only makes it easier! Bicycle Safety is also important in our neighborhoods of too many cars. We teach the parts of the bicycle and how to maintain the bicycle. We go on a 24 mile bike ride every year on the B&A Trail.

Our Club Officers

Our 4-H Club is COMPLETELY governed by the 4-H members. Every year the children vote for which of their peers will hold office. Just like all organizations we have:

-President
-Vice President
-Secretary
-Treasurer
-Reporter
-Historian

We also have:

-Activity Leaders
-Song Leaders

We meet every Monday evening. The Second Monday of every month is the Business Meeting. At the Business Meeting the club memebers propose activities and vote on those ideas for implementation. If we are not currently doing an activity that you are interested in, please propose your idea. We are always looking for new ways to improve 4-H and new skills for our members to learn.

Meeting weekly in Pasadena, Maryland!
Call Lisa at 410-903-5989 or Julie 443-790-1820 for information.
